Up until a few years ago, the idea of a comfortable and functional dress to work out in probably seemed pretty odd. A dress? For running, biking, HIIT, barre, yoga, etc.? How could that possibly be practical? And how could you move in it without worrying about flashing anyone? And really, they only seemed helpful for tennis.

But plenty of activewear brands have gotten quite clever and have reimagined the idea of a workout dress. Now, many of them these days are sweat-wicking, compressive, have a shorts liner, and are just as good as wearing the old leggings-and–sports-bra combo.

Plus, they're pretty awesome for transitioning from the gym or studio to whatever you have to do for the day. Not to mention that you might even want to wear them when you're not working out and just going about your day. Take a look at some of the best workout dresses below.
