It seems that over the past several years, there's been a major shift (in nearly every industry) toward consumers purchasing organic, "green" products with fewer ingredients and additives. It's a change I welcome with open arms; we already scour nutrition labels before adding to our grocery cart, so why not do the same when it comes to other products (like toothpaste, skincare, and deodorant) we're putting in or on our bodies?

That was a question friends Jordana Kier and Alexandra Friedman asked themselves when they realized they couldn't figure out what exactly was in the tampons they had been using on a monthly basis. Fun fact: The FDA categorizes tampons as a "medical device," which means they aren't required to list what exactly is inside of them. A bit alarming, no?

After tons of research, together the two of them co-founded Lola—a brand that makes natural period and sexual wellness products from tampons to lube and more. We tried them, and let's just say we're never going back.

As a new mama and head of a groundbreaking company, co-founder Jordana has a lot on her plate. But as someone who has dedicated her career toward improving women's lives, she has a lot of tidbits to share on how she lives hers. Keep scrolling for her entire morning routine.

6:45 a.m.

Wake up! My daughter Rose is 9 months old, and I cherish this age where I can still force her to hang out with me. Rose has decided she doesn’t like cold milk (and she’s not afraid to spit it out), so I make sure to warm her bottle before I wake her at 7 a.m.

Give Rose her bottle and maybe snap a few photos if she is looking particularly cute (to be honest, she always is looking particularly cute). We have a Slack channel at LOLA dedicated to the team posting photos of their babies and dogs, so I make a mental note to share anything good when I get into the office.

7:30 a.m.

After Rose finishes her bottle, we head to the park with Lucy, our dog. I put Rose in our carrier so I can easily hang on to Lucy’s leash, which also means I can’t access my phone. Being with my two girls, seemingly disconnected from the world… heaven!

8:00 a.m.

Back at home, I hand Rose off to our wonderful nanny, put Lucy’s breakfast down, and hop in the shower to get ready for the day myself. I wash my face with Dermalogica face wash and use Malin + Goetz face cream. When I was pregnant, I used the Kate Mcleod Mama Stone religiously, so every now and then I’ll sneak it back into the routine. LOLA’s office is very casual, so my normal uniform is jeans, a T-shirt, and my favorite Nike sneakers. Also, just realized I have my period today and grab some LOLA tampons from my personal stash to take to the office with me. Kiss Rose and Lucy goodbye and walk to LOLA HQ.

8:30 a.m.

I made good time today, so decide to stop for an egg and cheese sandwich. I live close to the office and love having the short walking commute to clear my head before the day.

9:00 a.m.

Arrive at the office! I use this hour to catch-up on emails, read the news, and socialize with my team. My desk is near the kitchen, so I grab anyone I haven’t talked to in a few days to hear about their life and projects. It’s great to hear from the team in their own words and connect outside of formal meetings and emails. My favorite part of being a founder is seeing the smart and passionate people committed to growing LOLA and the amazing things they build.

I meet with my co-founder, Alex, and we go over the most pressing issues of the day. Being a founder is hard, but having a great co-founder makes it easier.
