I Make Products for Boob Sweat and Thigh Chafing—Here's My A.M. Routine

What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning? A well-rounded morning routine sets the tone for the day and gets you prepped—both mentally and physically—before diving into a packed schedule filled with emails, chores, happy hours, workouts, and more. Our series Morning Person profiles those who have mastered the art of the morning routine. Tune in every Monday morning here and on our Instagram to learn exactly how the pros get it all done before the sun comes up, from their go-to breakfasts to their a.m. workouts.

Summer is in full swing, and while most are posting about #hotgirlsummer (can someone tell me what that phrase actually means?), we're not posting about some of the other facts of summer, like the constant reapplication of our natural deodorant, the thigh chafing, and probably the most annoying of them all: the boob sweat. So. Much. Boob. Sweat.

That's part of the reason we so wanted to chat with Katie Sturino about her morning routine. She's the woman who founded a beauty brand called Megababe, and she's brought to light some of the sticky issues women constantly have to deal with (but rarely talk about). And not only is she open about the topic, as you can clearly see from her Instagram, but she's also gone on to actually provide a remedy that's got sweaters and chafers screaming "Finally!" in their rave reviews.

So how does the founder of a brand that helps alleviate thigh chafing and prevent boob sweat start her day? Keep scrolling for Katie's morning routine.

I'd describe myself as an early bird, as my mind is freshest in the morning. Though I've recently made a big change to my morning routine, which has really impacted the way the rest of my day runs.

I used to spend the first minutes after I woke up responding to direct messages on Instagram and answering questions about my beauty line, Megababe. Now my mornings are dedicated to creating before I consume. So every morning, I try to take the time to meditate before I get out of bed. I use the Insight Timer app and meditate anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes.

Once out of bed, I head right to the bathroom to brush my teeth with SuperSmile toothpaste. In the summer, I use Augustinus Bader's The Rich Cream. I don't put sunscreen on in the morning—during the day, I try to avoid the sun altogether since I have melasma!

Every morning, my husband and I take our dogs Muppet, Cheese, and Crumb out for a walk. But before we head out, I throw on some Sunny Pits Deodorant and swipe on a little Thigh Rescue if I’m wearing a skirt, dress, or shorts (which in this heat is basically every day!). We like to spend about 40 minutes walking the dogs, which includes a pit stop for coffee at the High Line Hotel.

7:40 a.m.

After walking the dogs, I get to work. I catch up on my DMs and emails, and then take care of anything else that comes up, all while eating some breakfast.

9 a.m.

Early in the morning, I work more on my computer, and by the afternoon, I'm out of the house. When getting ready for the day, I use Clé de Peau under-eye concealer, Revlon eyeliner for my lower lids, Shiseido liner for my upper lids, and some mascara! I spray Musc 25 from Le Labo and put on some Rodin sheer lipstick.
