It's no secret that we love a good morning routine. We've come to learn, however, that the rituals we do to wind down before bed are just as important. Whether you take 10 minutes or a few hours, it's precious time that you have set aside at the end of the day to take care of yourself. I don't use the term badass very often, but when it comes to describing Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir, an Icelandic CrossFit athlete and a two-time World CrossFit Games champion, that's exactly what comes to mind. As a professional athlete, Davíðsdóttir is used to putting herself and her body through a mental and physical toll every day, so she has to prioritize recovery and getting enough rest. Currently, Davíðsdóttir is busy training for the CrossFit Games Semifinals happening later this month.

So what's the secret to this athlete's recovery during a grueling training season? From her proactive daily bodywork to her dreamy nightly beverage, keep scrolling to see how Davíðsdóttir winds down.

I am currently training for the CrossFit Games Semifinals in June, so right now, my days are long. Competition training is amazing, and I take it very seriously, but it's also extremely tough physically and mentally. I am pushing my body to its limit every day, which makes recovery so important. Luckily, I have an amazing coach and training partners that make those tough days fun.

This is when I'll usually come home from the gym after an exhausting but great day.

6 P.M.

It is incredibly important that I fuel my body to help in the recovery process so I am ready to go for the next big day of training. While my meals may vary, I always make sure that I am having a carb like sweet potato or rice, some lean protein, and also some veggies.

After intense days at the gym, I'll come home extremely hungry, so I immediately get started on cooking dinner. Tonight, I went with one of my favorites, a taco bowl with greens, tomatoes, rice, ground turkey, taco seasoning, salsa, and guacamole. I'll top it off with some tortilla chips for something crispy.

After dinner, I love to take a relaxing shower and follow it up by moisturizing with my favorite Laura Mercier Crème Brûlée Soufflé Body Crème. Then, I'll put on my favorite pair of pj's and comfy slippers. Now all that's left for the evening is to relax!

I drink Beam's Dream Powder every night before bed to help have a good night's sleep, which is key to help me recharge for another day of training. To prep it, I'll use my Breville espresso machine and add my favorite Oatly oat milkFor a sweet treat, I'll also top it with whipped cream, which is my dirty little secret.

This is where my night ends. I'll use Hyperice Normatec 2.0 while finishing my drink to make sure I'm implementing bodywork, both when I need it and also proactively. I have another big day of training tomorrow, so it's off to bed after this!
